If someone had told us a few years ago that we would be selling remote controlled planes for under twenty quid we would have laughed. If they told us these planes could fly indoors we would have called the men in white coats.

PalmZ Micro Plane

Remote control

After all, we remember when flying an RC plane involved petrol cans, licences and a regulation anorak. Thankfully the amazing PalmZ Micro Plane requires none of the above, as it weighs less than 10 grams, is powered by a rechargeable Lithium Polymer battery and is designed specifically for indoor use.

PalmZ Micro Plane

Fly in the comfort of your
own home

This triumph of aerodynamics is brought to you by the aviation buffs behind the PicoZ Helicopter and the X-Twin Bi-Plane - and it shows, because the Palm Z is one of the most engrossing, entertaining toys we've ever had the pleasure to play with. Why? Well for starters you don't need to get off the sofa to fly the thing. And there's something inexplicably riveting about piloting a plane around the telly and over the coffee table.
PalmZ Micro Plane

More importantly, the PalmZ is a doddle to fly. Once you get the hang of its nifty little infra-red RC unit, you'll be flying around with the greatest of ease, and even pulling off the occasional figure-of-eight. But here's the really good bit: the PalmZ's clever tri-band system allows three planes to fly simultaneously. That means you and your fellow couch potatoes can engage in thrilling formation flying around the home and office.

PalmZ Micro Plane

Constructed from crash-proof EPP foam, the PalmZ is ready-to-fly straight out the box thanks to its single powerful micro motor and geared pusher prop. Just charge it up and it's chocks away! Indeed the only thing missing is the comedy wax moustache and one of those Russ Abbot-style aviator scarves, but we're sure you'll manage without. We believe the PalmZ is going to soar into our bestseller list faster than you can say 'doors to manual' so get ordering before our whole hangar-full flies out of stock.

visitor avatar Great fun, great price - got this last Christmas for my brother (an amateur pilot) who loves it. Definitely one for a larger hall!

visitor avatar Its the best I have got oe but im having trouble making it ascend.
Dillon Broadbent, Manchester - 10th February 2009
Firebox says: Hi Dillon, if you could drop us an email on info@firebox.com with some further information as to the problem you're having we'd be happy to help you out!
visitor avatar My missus bought me a (blue) PalmZ for Christmas - possibly the bestest ever present in the whole wide world (and certainly for £12!). I figured I needed to build a squadron of aircraft up, for two reasons: One, attrition - they are going to die fairly quickly the way I keep flying in to walls; Two, my mates are going to go mad when they see these things and want a go too. The handling qualities of each aircraft are going to be unique - they're so small that any variation in build is going to made a significant difference. The first (blue) aircraft handles quite sweetly, but a couple of cuts in the tailplane are needed to extend the range of rudder travel. It is quite easy to fly around, annoying said Missus and the cats, in my 11-foot square living room! The second (green) aircraft has proved a lot harder to handle. Oddly, the biggest difference is in control responsiveness - the time between changing a throttle/rudder setting and the change in speed/movement is quite pronounced, whereas it is instant on the the first. As such, it really needs a bigger room to fly in. The third (orange) aircraft is currently being held in reserve!

visitor avatar TONS of fun. We bought two to fly around our industrial unit and they fly perfect. Quick tip, you can lengthen the rudder by 10mm with two pieces of sticky tape makes for much faster turning. Best 15 quid ever spent!
Dan Bailey, Ringwood - 28th January 2008
visitor avatar An excellent piece of kit, flys amazingly inside our rather small house - the only problem I can see is that it has a range of only 5 meters! (You have to pay extra to buy an IR booster that should have been built into the controller in the first place. ) But still an Excellent Plane!
James, Oxfordshire, UK - 26th December 2007
visitor avatar This is a very good RC plane, but whatever you do dont try doing a nose dive! I crashed and I cant fix the rudder. It still flies though (??) so it is v. Good. BUY IT!
Gabriel O'Toole, Kidlington, Oxfoed - 28th October 2007
visitor avatar The plane was not as crash resistant as said here. Mine had a broken wing, and when I tried to fix it, it flies around without control, no matter how it's trimmed. Maybe you could sell some other indoor planes from Silverlit okay? (That x-plane looks cool anyway. ).
Zikri, Brunei Darussalam - 19th October 2007
visitor avatar Small plane, fast plane, affordable cost! Flew it everywhere but on an occasion the rudder broke! I was like 'noooo!' until I thought of super-gluing the pieces back together! Can it be really done?
Zikri, Brunei Darussalam - 4th October 2007
visitor avatar This is one of the best things I have brought for my boy (me really), he loves it and can fly it with ease at age 7. I'm ordering more for Xmas.
Lee Newman, Harlow - 5th September 2007
visitor avatar This little plane is amazing!!! I had it up and flying within 20 mins due to the 10 minute charging time which is no problem with the super long 10+ flying time! I have crashed it a couple of times and it is still flying good and steady. Thx firebox for the great next day delivery!
