Action Camera

Films underwater! (Eek!)

Handheld video cameras are great, but as the name suggests you need to hold them. With your hands. And that's fine when you're recording dad dozing, baby crawling and the best man making a fool of himself. It's not so great, however, when you're careening down a hill on your mountain bike, whooshing down the slope on your snowboard or holding three beers in one hand and a bag of pork rinds in the other.

Action Camera

Handlebar Cam!

That's why you need the ingenious ATC-2000 Action Camera. This compact, all-in-one digital video camera is ideal for all you adrenaline junkies/sport freaks/Punch & Judy operators out there, as it has been designed for hands-free use. Simply mount the idiot-proof Action Camera on your helmet or handlebars and you're off. As long as you remember to look where you're going you'll soon be capturing oodles of action-packed, POV (point-of-view), MTV-style footage.

Action Camera

Helmet Cam!

After a radically bodacious (or something like that) day of filming you can watch the action, exactly as you saw it, by plugging the Action Camera into your PC (via USB) or TV (via RCA cables). Overdubbing the soundtrack with a suitably up-tempo metal anthem is entirely up to you. The Action Camera features 32MB of onboard memory, expandable to 2GB via SD card, so you can capture several takes as you attempt to master that black run, navigate those rapids or chat up that girl with the mesmerizing, erm, eyes.

Action Camera

SD Card slot to store your videos!

USB Port to transfer your videos!

RCA Connector to playback your videos!

Action Camera

Easy to use LCD display

Waterproof and shock resistant, the sturdy Action Camera is built to withstand all manner of foolhardy hobbies, come rain, dirt, snow or shine. And thanks to its 640x480 VGA CMOS sensor, picture quality is cracking, no matter what you're getting up to. Okay, so the resolution isn't up there with top-end fancypants vidcams, but would you really want to strap one of those to your head while pulling crazy stunts in a kayak? Exactly.

We've been looking for a decent helmet cam for ages and the Action Camera is the first one that cuts the mustard in terms of quality, price and usability. So hurry up and get ordering before everyone's wearing one. And... action!

visitor avatar I was a little dubious of this tiny camera when it first arrived but once powered up and mounted on my bike/cycle helmet I was amazed at the quality of the unit especially for the cost. I am doing the London to Brighton Bike Ride in June and going to record that on it, can't wait, except for the changing of batteries and SD cards. A 4GB card gives you nearly 2 hours of recording. Overall I am impressed with this little gadget and trying to find alternative uses/actions for it as we speak.

visitor avatar I bought this camera for a paintballing session in Bawtry, nr Sheffield. Unfortunately, the helmet bit was missing when I ordered it so I couldn't get any video to post on the site. I called Firebox and told them the situation and the next morning the missing part was delivered in the post. Excellent customer service. Thanks guys, I'll make sure I go paintballing again soon and send some clips to you.

visitor avatar Dear ATC-2K users, Thank you for your reviews and comments on the ATC-2K, they are extremely valuable to us. We would like to answer a few of your questions and give some more specifics about the ATC-2K action camera through this statement. · ATC-2K can accept SD cards 8MB to 2GB. We recommend SanDisk SD cards and AData SD cards. · Please ensure you insert your SD card with connect terminals facing up. This means, with the LCD screen facing you turn your SD card label side down/terminals up and insert it. · The SD card must be formatted to FAT(FAT16). · Ensure your camera is switched off before inserting/removing the SD card or batteries. · We recommend users familiarize themselves with the button positions and sounds when pressed. · The ATC-2K is waterproof to 3m/10ft. Please ensure the O-rings have been properly greased. · The ATC-2K is intended for use with extreme sports. We have deliberately designed the ATC-2K with this purpose in mind and thus have made the microphone less sensitive. Through research and experience we have found that users would rather add their own music or commentary after their activity as opposed to trying to commentate live. · The ATC-2K uses 2 x AA Alkaline batteries however; we advise that users change to Lithium batteries during cold weather usage for longer recording time. We have a Cold Weather Pouch for the ATC-2K camera for use in cold weather. Please check our website for availability. For troubleshooting please refer to the manual. You are welcome to send any further comments to atc@oregonscientific.com Best Regards, ATC support team.

visitor avatar This is a fab bit of kit. Really neat and user friendly, you just can't go wrong. The quality is good, I use it on my motorbike and it records well at high speeds and being waterproof you don't need to worry if it rains.

visitor avatar I have just received my ATC3k and I am more than happy with it. What a bargain! The amount of extra bits you get to mount the camera are ace! Tried it this morning on the way in to work from inside the car mounted on the window screen. The noise was terrible saying it was inside the car the microphone picked up the road vibration through the glass so the audio is not usable. However the picture was excellent. I recorded for about 35 - 40 minutes and the video size was 936MB. I haven't tried it on my motorbike yet but I imagine the audio will be worse but tbh the picture makes up for it. The build quality of the camera is very good too and the water seals seem adequate. Overall great camera for the money and I would recommend it. I have been using a microSD card in an SD adapter and it works fine. Although this is not a support method according to the manufacturer. It work though! One thing to note, remove the SD card to transfer the movies off its far too slow to transfer via the camera.

visitor avatar This is a great little video camera for using with sports. It is tough and waterproof so can be used in many situations. The video quality isn't great but more then acceptable for this style of camera. The only things that aren't right about it is the placement of the microphone (underneath the unit?!). Also, there is no way to preview what you are recording, the video output only works for playback, so practise using it to get an idea of what it is actually looking at. On the whole, a good camera that does all that is needed of it, in a tough rugged casing!
