A more interesting way of giving money as a gift!

Everyone loves money. Everyone loves puzzles. Thankfully Money Maze is one of those brilliantly annoying gizmos that combines both of the above, as recipients must solve it in order to access whatever pressie you put inside. Aargh!

Looking a bit like transparent Borg starships (or, if you're not a complete geek, see-through cubes), this infuriatingly addictive puzzle is guaranteed to send friends and relatives loopy with frustration.

As its name suggests the Money Maze is ideal for imprisoning money, but you can also use it to trap tickets, gift vouchers or any other paper-based pressie.

guide the steel ball around the maze

Well... you could get a hammer

We're not telling you how to solve this knuckle-gnawing brain-teaser (yes, of course we've cracked it) but it involves manoeuvering a little steel ball through a labyrinthine maze. And if you think that sounds easy, think again.

We've seen grown men reduced to tears trying to open this deceptively devious cube. And there was only a quid inside. Oh yes, did we mention you can also put coins in Money Maze? Actually, if it fits in the slot, you can put anything you like in there. As long as the recipient covets it, it's funny.

Flummoxed owners might be tempted to take the direct approach and smash their maze to smithereens with a heavy object. But then they'd be unable to use it again. And that would be a shame because as well as being a brilliant way to give money, vouchers, tickets, sweets, and more, both mazes are hideously compelling puzzles. The root of all evil? Hit the Buy button and find out.

A cross-over of the two gadgets I purchased recently. It's handy, because I can use the Money Gift Maze as a piggy bank, and I won't destroy it by turning it, I just need to use the magnets of the m-cube to move the ball all around the maze. Cool, no? :)

visitor avatar Bought it for my brother for Xmas, who predictably managed to solve it in minutes. The part that took the longest was actually opening it once it was solved - you need to slide the catch *very* slowly, letting the ball drop towards the opening. We thought it was faulty for at least 10 minutes... Not the best made item, but I didn't expect much for £8! Great wrapping paper though.
Bryony, - 25th December 2011
visitor avatar These are absolutely rubbish. Like the many other reviews posted here, they do not lock properly so they are no good. I bought two of these and both of them are the same so clearly this is just a badly designed product. Furthermore one of the boxes was cracked and damaged so overall a horrible disappointment for Xmas. Thanks Firebox... :(.

visitor avatar Would earrings (on a plastic square packaging)fit in this box? It would be funny to give them in this box instead of just wrapped up!
Jackie, Edinburgh - 13th December 2011
Firebox says: Hi Jackie, so long as the box the earrings are in is smaller than 2.25 x 2.25 x 3 inches it should be fine!
visitor avatar I bought two of these and neither of them will lock so they are no use at all. Very disappointing.
Alan, Highlands - 3rd December 2011
Firebox says: Hi Alan, this doesn't sound right! Please drop us an email to info@firebox.com and one of our friendly customer service team will be happy to help you out.
visitor avatar Just received my money maze but when I solve the maze the door doesn't pop open? it just goes back to the start. It looks as if this one has been used before it has a large surface scratch and what looks like cracks in the plastic. Very disappointed.
Billy Shepherd, - 17th November 2011
Firebox says: Hi Billy, sounds like you have a faulty one, give us an email at info@firebox.com with your order number and we'll see if we can help.
visitor avatar I was thinking about buying this but my only problem would be if it fit tickets in because I bought gadget show live tikets would it be better to buy the dvd maze instead?
Littlelu, Bramhall - 15th November 2011
Firebox says: If you want to fit tickets in I would suggest the DVD case as it is going to be able to hold the tickets without you folding them!
visitor avatar Hi, will the maze fit an itunes gift card in it?? Looks great :).
Ann-Marie, Dublin - 6th November 2011
Firebox says: Hi Anne-Marie, A gift card should fit in the gift maze, but it will be a tight squeeze.
visitor avatar Does this box come with the 20 Pounds included?!!
Jacob, England - 11th July 2011
visitor avatar Are you able to open the box without completing the puzzle ?
Lorna Mcivor, Scotland - 3rd March 2011
visitor avatar We did a secret Santa within our flat and I had no idea what to get my flatmate, so I bought this and put some money inside and everyone was amazed by it and she spent ages trying to get into it. A definite hit and may consider getting others one in the future!
