Hot sauce, hot shmauce: we thought we'd torched our tastebuds with everything until Dave's Gourmet Private Reserve Hot Sauce turned up. Indeed we're writing this with tears in our eyes and the fire department on stand-by because a single drop of this incendiary stuff is all it takes to set your gob on fire. It's the only hot sauce to ever get banned from the National Fiery Food Show in New Mexico for being too hot. No, really!

Dave's Gourmet Private Reserve Hot Sauce

Limited edition bottle

Dave, saucemeister extraordinaire, only makes this thermonuclear rocket fuel once a year and each bottle in this Limited Edition 2006 vintage has been hand numbered, signed, dated and then laid to rest in a wooden coffin wrapped in caution tape. It even comes with a written warning!
Dave's Gourmet Private Reserve Hot Sauce

Our plucky volunteer

So what does it taste like? Well it's far too potent to be consumed neat but even half a drop in a spag bol will blow your head off. But in a good way, because the aftertaste is really rather delicious. Imagine pouring the contents of a vindaloo volcano in your mush and you're halfway there.
Dave's Gourmet Private Reserve Hot Sauce

Fancy a drop?

To give you an idea of its heat rating, Dave's Gourmet Private Reserve Hot Sauce is three times hotter than his infamous Insanity Sauce. A plucky volunteer here at Firebox added a dash to a Bloody Mary and reported that his tongue felt as if Lucifer was prodding it with a red hot pitchfork. And that was after he'd emptied the water cooler over his head.
Made with red savina and habanero peppers, chilli peppers, hot pepper extract, water, salt, passion fruit juice, lime juice, sugar, onion and garlic, this liquid lunacy is guaranteed to add a fiery thump to countless dishes. And because a little goes a long way it will last for yonks. The perfect gift for chilli fans and tongue torture aficionados, Dave's Gourmet Private Reserve Hot Sauce is strictly limited edition - in fact many previous vintages are now collectors' items. So hit buy and prepare to feel the pain. Nyaargh!

visitor avatar WARNING: too much too fast may cause you to get sick - I took a certain amount and retched my guts up, then wiped my eyes... NOT a good idea! impressive for parties though, the reactions will have everyone in stitches lol! WELL worth buying, no doubt about it!

visitor avatar My girlfriend bought me this for my birthday present because I like hot food. Best ever present, most amazing heat I have ever had, the sauce is not hot when first tasting but the burn of the after taste is something to die for. Thank you Dave for making the best ever food additive in the world. Fantastic to fool friends/family into trying out!!!

visitor avatar Caution: Doesn't work on Russians. I let a few people try it and they were in agony but my Russian friends didn't show any pain.

visitor avatar Damnit! I like spicy stuff, I can drink Tabasco and deal with other "hot" curries well. I put half a teaspoon of this into a can of spag bol and I had to drink 1 litre of milk and keep my head under the tap. Not for the weak!

visitor avatar Bought two bottles - one for collector item-ness and another for sheer torture! Seriously hot and delicious! Imagine eating a big lump of Wasabi - so hot it kills insects, only hotter! Ouch!

visitor avatar Amazing stuff I tried this a while back!! Great fun to give to friends but don't do what I did, I licked it off the end of my finger and it was that bad my eyes started watering so I wiped my eyes with the saucy finger... was blind for hours haha! Other than that though it is great stuff! Hours of fun at parties when you put a bit on the rim of someone's pint glass! hehe.

Firebox says: What goes around comes around!

visitor avatar This is a extremely hot! I got it and had a couple of the lads round. Thought I would make a vindaloo curry but add Dave's Sauce, use this with great caution. I put a desert spoon in the vindaloo and one of them could still taste the sause THREEE days later, his mouth was burnt like hell, he could hardly breath. It's so strong even one drop was enough to make one off them sweat!!!!! Greatly recomended.

visitor avatar This stuff is nuts! Seriously one drop almost took me out. It could be fun at a party but whoever gets "burned" will not be happy for a few hours at least.

visitor avatar Pretty mild, I have it on my cornflakes for breakfast.

visitor avatar The funniest thing I have ever seen, my brother asked me for a taste, I told him it would be hot but he didn't believe me. he drank some (quite alot) and he was running around my house screaming, and the best part the water in my house wasnt running, because my dad was fitting in a new bath. It was great!
