Experts reckon modern living affects your ability to make decisions. And they might be right - we can't decide. The point is we're always having to choose between yes, no and maybe. Annoying, yes?
Thankfully our good friends in Japan have created Unazukins - impossibly cute little collectable dolls that help you make decisions by responding to your questions with a nod or shake of the head.
Simply ask a question ("Am I staggeringly attractive/Is Hedgehunter going to win the 12:10 at Steepledown?/Does my bum look big in this?") and Unazukins will answer with a yes (one nod), a definite yes (two nods), a no (one head shake), or a definite no (double head shake).
Q: Do you know the way to Amarillo?
Looking like Russian dolls with a cartoony twist, Unazukins are said to be wise fairies that live under big mushrooms in the woods (pint of whatever the makers are drinking, please). Dodgy mythology aside, these pocket-sized sages make ideal desktop companions ("Shall I float the company for £100 billion?") and pretty nifty pencil case pals ("Do I look silly talking to you during my final PhD exam?").
If you're reading this and wondering whether Unazukins are going to be the next big thing, the answer is an emphatic yes. These grinning yes/no dolls are already huge in trendsetting Japan. And because Unazukins are randomly packed you never know which one you're going to get, so collecting them is half the fun.
Whether you're using your Unazukin to predict the footie results, settle a bet, decide whose round it is, or simply adorn your desk, we guarantee you'll be unable to resist popping a question every time you clap eyes on that adorable little face. The only question left is this: do you want to be part of the Unazukin phenomenon? Double nod? We'll take that as a yes!
Important: Unazukin are chosen at random so you never know which one you're gonna get! But thats all part of the mystery.
I looooove my dear Unazukin so. I only wish I could have smuggled her into my GCSE's... Just kidding, but she really does help me out. Great delivery firebox and thanks for the sweets! :D. Izzy, Kent - 18th June 2008
Adorable!!! I consider my little family of growing unazukins as my little desk therapists. They are cuter in person, and if you remember having weebles as a child or russian marushyka dolls, this is the "cool" hip new version! Awesome gift, or a cute way to spoil yourself!! I love my little Unazukin! My best image of this doll is seeing my 6'5" burly roofer friend (he is REALLY stocky with huge muscles) holding her in the palm of his hand asking loads of random questions and the doll nodding or shaking her head the right way every time. He couldn't get over how she could answer him correctly; how she knew which way to move her head. It's weird but true! Buy one to try xxx. Kirsten, Derby - 24th January 2008
I love my Unazukin! Unfortunately, mine was involved in a freak accident at work where she (mini Toni) landed in a glass of water...luckily she only bobbed around for a few seconds and made a full recovery! She is thankfully still able to make executive decisions! Caroline Watling, Norwich - 6th October 2007
I remember seeing an advert for these on TV, just the once. Never saw it again. I never thought they would reach the mainstream, but I spotted them in a Woolworths over a year ago (Please forgive me firebox for betraying you!! It was before you stocked them) and had to buy one!! My little Zuki-chan has made some tough decisions for me! As has my trusty 8 ball!! Once again, loving the adorable Japanese products!!! Emily Coles, Aka Meimi132, Caston, Norfolk - 4th August 2007
Firebox says: We forgive you!
I think my family is worried I've been talking to myself a lot more recently... good ol' Unazukin! Larwick, Bristol, UK - 31st July 2007
