Audio cassettes were great in their day, weren't they? Once you've hooked up the Plus Deck you can rediscover the music and sounds you grew up with in MP3 format, archive your collection, or simply use it to play tapes on your computer. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

What a product!
First of all the delivery - outstanding, was sent literally in 1 hr of ordering - how good is that. Package arrived on time as promised the following morning. So cracking open the well packaged toy my hands were on the thing that was going to bring my old Electro tapes a new leash of life - Quality
Anyway, the Beastie Boys went straight into the PC slot, wired and booted in under 5mins... I downloaded the most recent software from the Plus Deck website (a 2mb download) and was ready to rock! This is the mutts nuts! From start to finish I was cutting my first few tracks in 10mins. . Superb.
Having a quick flick through the software it states you can setup recording playlists to go back onto audio tapes - so it may be able to record as well - checking this tomorrow when I can locate a blank tape!
This is a quality device and a must for all them lonely tapes out there. Get one of these bad boys and get rocking!
And thanks for the sweets Firebox... I'm kicking back listening to some old tunes and enjoys the chews...thanks!
Great Service!!! | |||||||||
This is an excellent product, very easy to use and a big improvement on the external tape deck I was using before. It really is just a case of clicking a button and seeing the whole tape (both sides) converted to mp3 without further intervention.
Note however, that it requires a serial port - this isn't listed in the system requirements, but if like me you have a modern PC without one, factor in the extra expense of installing one (suitable cards are fairly cheap off eBay, but will use up another expansion slot and can sometimes be difficult to install - mine was!).
After about 20 minutes to do the install including the software, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the dynamic sound from this deck. I used to uses a state of the art Nakamichi and playing through the same NAD amp I couldn't tell the difference. There is no hiss yet the quality of the upper regions is still bright and detailed. In fact, I wondered whether it was worth digitising all my tapes. Only for preservation. The Plus Deck design engineers have obviously done their homework. Recording is a piece of cake and once you have found the right levels, sound quality is as good as any other mp3's.
An excellent addition to any PC, that does what it says on the box.
I am as I type listening to 'Can't Stop The Love' - Maze 1985, and its sounds as great as it did when I first got the tape, back in the day! I can’t wait to get at the 30 or so other tapes I have packed away just waiting for this day.
Amazingly easy to install, as I had a CD-ROM & CD-R drive, the CD-ROM was the least used and the ideal slot for the Plus Deck Cassette Converter. I can’t believe something so simple can be so effective. Thank you so much Firebox.
Excellent piece of kit. I have a massive cassette collection. Many are irreplaceable.
Easy to install and worked first time. I didn't find the software that good so used the MS Plus digital recorder.
Why didn't I get one earlier? It's saving me so much time, and I'm preserving my collection.
Brilliant! Thank you Firebox.
Just the thing that I've been looking for. Too many cassettes to convert and bring back old memories. One problem, how can I link this to a laptop? (I dont have a desk top).
Thanks Firebox for a quick delivery! Set this tape deck up in only 15 mins and was recording cassettes in no time. Comes with a cable to plug into your serial port so that the supplied software works. I woudn't bother with the software though, it's a bit naff, I work with Roxio Media Creator instead. The recordings are of a very good quality, with no motor noise or excessive hiss, I guess the mechanism is pretty good. Overall a very good product worthy of purchase.
Bought this for the purpose of converting our tape collection. First problem with it was the "hardware error" message when you try to load the software. This happens if the Serial (coms port) you are trying to use is in use, the installation does not allow you to choose another coms port. Fortunately, in Windows 2000 it is easy to change to another coms port and have success. Other area to note, the device is even longer than an internal DVD Writer, make sure you have space, or can move other devices around. Once working though it is excellent, and you can convert to WAV, or various different MP3 quality. Love the fact it records both sides of the tape, creating 2 separate files for each side. One last thing, don't expect too much help on the official forums of the makers. But it should work for everyone, I love it. Now all I have to do is spend hours converting tapes!
Excellent. A doddle to use once you set the audio levels. Just use an existing mp3 track as a guide. And who cares if the colour doesn't match your computer. Nice not to have yet another USB cable.
This looks terrific, but for those of us with laptop computers, is there any way to use it? Thank you.
