Sadly we can't answer the above questions (well, except maybe the last one) but we can show you how to recreate the heavens above in all their starry glory on any ceiling or wall.
The mind-blowing Star Theatre Planetarium uses the same lens as a full-blown commercial planetarium to show real constellations in stupendous detail. Just turn the lights off, switch the Star Theatre on, then sit back and relax. You won't believe your eyes!
Ultra-bright white LED technology enables this über-advanced projector to beam 10,000 stars skywards. It even includes special discs to display both stars and delineated constellations (whatever they are), and mimics celestial movement in both northern and southern hemispheres. Simply place the little discs in the Star Theatre's front-loading tray and prepare to be gobsmacked.
The controls (L-R): Timer, Northern/Southern Hemisphere, Shooting Stars and Power
Easy to change slides
Of course you could always fit a retractable roof and look at the real thing, but all those nosy aliens would see you though their nuclear telescopes. Or would they see you as a baby? Or a dinosaur? We never did understand all that astrophysics stuff. What we do understand is that the Star Theatre Planetarium will blow you away because it's completely out of this world!

Totally brilliant, top product. Where can you get the other discs? Will firebox be selling them?Alex Shaw, London - 26th December 2011
Firebox says: Great review! we do not have any discs in stock, but watch this space!
Received this for my birthday today from my family. I absolutely love it. Can't wait to fall asleep looking at the stars tonight. Thank you so much x.Jane Marshall, Colchester, Essex, England - 17th November 2011
Firebox says: That is great to hear Jane! Enjoy!
I have a quick question, I bought this in august and I love it, however its stopped rotating, its still making the noise just not rotating, any ideas? is there a guarantee as ive still got the receipt but there is no mention of what to do if it breaks.Jonno, Wakefield - 13th November 2011
Firebox says: Oh dear! Please feel free to contact us on info@firebox.com or call 0800 044 5010 so we can sort this out!
It is awesome and really clear. It is worth the money and good for all ages. Better in the dark and doesn't hurt your eyes. The shoting star option is amazing and if you want it go for it. ***** five star.Lucia Cross, Surbition, Surrey - 28th September 2011
Firebox says: Hi Lucia, we're very pleased you like it!
Delineated constellations are the groups of stars which those in the old days with nothing to do decided to call such strange names as Orion, Sagittarius etc. They are displayed within a line to indicate what they represent (I assume - don't own one of these but would like to!).Abdullah Eyles, Adana, Turkey - 15th September 2011
Disappointing! Having bought the laser cosmos version which is outstanding I went for this for the realism. Unfortunately the larger stars look like blobs of white paint and there is way too much going on to be completely realistic.Jason Wallace, Ireland - 15th April 2010
My sister bought me this for Christmas 2009 and I just love it. The shooting star effect is great. I went on the net to look for any other discs that may be available and I found a Japanese site that sells 3 new discs although they are a tad expensive. However, if you love your unit as much as I do you may not want to wait for the 2nd Edition Pro Planetarium that Firebox will be selling around September then these will keep you busy until then. Can't wait!!Faith Louise, Norwich - 17th January 2010
Firebox says: The version we sell is the second version of this product. However, it is not the 'Pro2' as this is only produced for the Japanese market and includes an extra disc (moon). Our version contains a stars disc and a constellation map disc.
My boyfriend bought me this for Christmas and I spent a whole hour in my bed watching it this morning! I love it.
I was apparently moaning too much about not being able to see the stars in the city and since studying astronomy, picking out constellations is something I love to do, this is the perfect gift for me.
Very happy with the quality of the projection and the handy sky maps inside kept me amused for ages :P
Can't fault it, 5/5.Kitty, Dundee, Scotland - 25th December 2009
Pretty damn incredible. My wife bought this as a birthday present for me and we drifted off to sleep last night under a starry sky. Definitely a must buy! Lawrence is right though. There's no battery pack in the box, despite the information on the page. Batteries are not mentioned in the manual and I didn't want to try opening it to see if they fitted inside!Mikey, Essex, GB - 18th November 2009
Nice little item, good detail on the constellations - You get one disc with a normal HD Galaxy, and another disc with the same HD Galaxy - with all of the constellations marked out.
I should point out that the shooting star feature does only repeat in the same place, I was hoping for more of a random effect...but it's still nice.
Also, the description says this item takes 4x AA batteries?, but as far as I can see it does not?Lawrence, Essex, GB - 30th October 2009
Firebox says: It's actually 4x C Batteries but using these are just optional if you don't want to / can't plug it in at the mains.
