QuickPitch Tent
Tents have been around for so long they even get a mention in the Old Testament. But although tent technology has come on leaps and bounds over the millennia, you still need the patience of Job to put the pesky things up. A shame, because nothing beats climbing into a cosy tent after a hard day's hike or an evening spent wading round the festival campsite.

But who can be bothered with all that confusing canvas and pole-pitching palaver? We know we can't. That's why we just love the ingenious QuickPitch tent. The clue's in the name because these nifty two-person and three-person tents simply pop open the second you release their retaining straps. All you then do is peg it down. Brilliant, eh?

Unwind!

With the two-person tent weighing only 2kg, with a pack size of 78cm in diameter, QuickPitch is supremely portable. Featuring solid fibreglass core poles, taped seams, double stitched flysheets (in 1500mm waterproof* polyester and nylon), plus a waterproof groundsheet, the QuickPitch will keep you and maybe a companion or two as snug as bugs in rugs.

Unlike some self-pitching tents, the QuickPitch is free from spring-loaded sliding catches, so you won't trap your fingers when it boings open. Even a first time camper can erect one in a couple of minutes - ideal if the rain starts pouring unexpectedly.

In fact, talking of proper carry ons and camping, isn't it time you stopped messin' about and ordered a QuickPitch Tent!

  • Hydrostatic head ratings: To measure the hydrostatic head of a fabric, a vertical column of water is pressed against it. The height of the column is increased until the water penetrates the fabric. To be labelled as "Waterproof" in the UK, fabric must have a hydrostatic head rating of at least 1000mm. During a typical British Spring, Summer and Autumn a 1000mm hydrostatic tent fabric should be sufficient. Any less and water seeping in during a storm is very likely as wind-driven rain requires a higher hydrostatic head. A rating of 1000mm should withstand winds of 35mph.
  • A hydrostatic head of 2000mm and above will cope with most European conditions in all seasons.

visitor avatar This tent is easy to pitch, but is not waterproof in the slightest, is tiny and while I could go on with other problems I won't. Quite simply, as this tent is appalling. Do. Not. Buy.
Matt, Durham - 13th July 2009
visitor avatar What a great tent and thanks for the brill video! The tent flew up in a few seconds, but stayed up in the lounge all night as we worked out how to put it down! It is now neatly back in the bag, ready for Creamfields!
Jibberish, Warrington - 12th July 2009
visitor avatar Hmmm...I may be missing something, but what's the point of showing the 4 person image/specs, if only the 2 person version is available?
Joe, London - 9th July 2009
Firebox says: Sorry about that - the 4 person tent used to be available, and may be again in the future, hence the pictures are still up.
visitor avatar They need to make one where it can be seperated into two or three peices or able to be compacted down small enough to fit into a Rucksack for a Duke Of Edinburgh Expedition or Camping.
Chris Frost, Redditch, England, Great Britain, UK, Europe, Northern Hemisphere, Earth, Sol, M - 7th July 2009
visitor avatar Incredibly easy to put up; just throw it; but a nightmare to put down; it really takes some practice. There was a lot of cussing involved and a huge sense of relief when I finally mastered it; bit like a tent and a Rubik's Cube rolled into one; I'm hoping it will be easier next time I use it!!
Darren, Bedford - 3rd May 2009
visitor avatar Why do you have info about a three man tent when you can't buy one here? I need one D: i have a two man one of these and it is really good :).
Mat, Stafford - 13th April 2009
Firebox says: Unfortunately the 3 man tent is out of stock, really sorry about that!
visitor avatar I bought the DS4 and it is amazing. It is huge and up in 5 minutes, so simple and easy 5/5.
James Parker, Bracknell - 13th April 2009
visitor avatar Absolutely amazing, pitches instantly (apart from the guyropes, which add an extra 60 seconds to set up) and packing up takes under 3 mins, from taking the first peg out the ground. Highly recommend watching the video on how to pack it up, the diagrams that come with it are industry standard, and therefor involve magic to understand, but once you've seen it on video, you wont even need to practice.
Tom Scott, Cambridge - 2nd April 2009
visitor avatar This made Leeds Festival far more enjoyable!!!
Mike, Middlesbrough - 10th August 2008
visitor avatar Great tent, got smacked in the face opening it but ah well, my own fault, spent about an hour wrestling with it trying to get it away because of rubbish instructions but found the video and it was away fast, should be great for my festival this week (Y).
