There are several ways to wake a heavy sleeper. Screaming 'Get up you lazy... er... person' is one method, but it's invariably met by a mumbled response involving the word 'off'.

Sonic Grenade
Cranking up the stereo to 11 is another technique, but we find the professional dozer always manages to remain blissfully oblivious to the din until the rest of the house is forced to concede defeat. Marching into the bedroom clashing cymbals and walloping a bass drum works, but unless you're on first name terms with the local one-man band, it's not really practical.

So how do you rouse annoying layabouts without buying half a ton of bulky percussion? Easy, you purchase a Sonic Grenade! Simply pull the pin on this amusingly heartless device, lob it into the sleeper's room, yell 'fire in the hole!' and run for cover. Within twenty seconds a piercingly loud, spectacularly annoying noise will blast from this comedy grenade's innards, causing the sleeper to wake up faster than you can say 'I love it when a plan comes together'.

Lob it!l

What makes the Sonic Grenade particularly effective (and hilarious) is the fact it can only be deactivated by replacing the pin, so victims have to get up and find you (and the pin) in order to silence its dreadful caterwauling. If you're feeling generous you can always chuck in the pin along with the grenade - although the sleeper will still have to scrabble around on the floor looking for it. Brilliant!

Featuring three volume levels the Sonic Grenade looks just like an archetypal Hollywood grenade, so you can make like your favourite movie star every time you roll/lob/drop it into the bedroom. In fact, it's so hilariously irritating we've started using ours just to annoy people. Perfect for slothful schoolkids, lazybones partners and layabout flatmates, the Sonic Grenade is guaranteed to stir all but the bravest of sleepers. Indeed, if this deafening little baby doesn't wake 'em up, nothing will. We said IF THIS DEAFENING LITTLE...Oh, forget it. GRENADE!!

Press Reviews...

press review "If all else fails, it's time to bring in the Sonic Grenade. This device is not a clock but a dedicated alarm, a device to get the most recalcitrant teen out of bed. Shaped like the real thing, it's easy to operate - pull the pin, toss into little Jimmy's bed and wait for the high-pitched scream to force him up. The best part is that the alarm won't stop until the pin is put back in."

visitor avatar Bought this as a gift for our friend as her hubby sleeps through anything (slapping him and cold water does nothing when hes out!) Although it is not as loud as we would hope (we wanted ear splitting cant hear myself talk to get him back for all the snoring!) its annoying enough and loud enough to arise him from slumber. A brilliant toy to prank people with. Pull the pin, hide somewhere and run!

visitor avatar Firebox, down at the bottom of the reviews you said you have to put the pin back in to stop it, you are wrong! If you temporarily hold down the handle it does stop beeping!

visitor avatar Sorry, I'm just curious. What are the decibel ratings?
Peter, USA - 13th March 2010

visitor avatar Bought this for my son and he loves it.... Quite loud and very effective when you aren't expecting it lol.
Skatermiss, Hampshire - 15th December 2009
visitor avatar I dont actually have this product but I just wanted to say 1 thing: to everyone that complains it needs to be louder you are ridiculous and obviously havent thought your complaint through thoughrly. This is a toy, not a weapon, its meant for kids teenagers and adults who want to have some fun and a bit of a laugh, there is NO WAY that firebox would release a product that may perminantly damage the hearing of people, so that why its only loud enogh to annoy people, I mean come on, firebox dont exactly want to get sued, do they?
Joel, Shenley, Hertforshire - 23rd October 2009
visitor avatar If you set it off in your mates room, can they simply hold the handle down to temporarily stop it?
James, Marlborough, UK - 21st October 2009
Firebox says: Nope, you have to put the pin back in to stop it!
visitor avatar Not really worth it it was really good at first it was really exiting but it didnt make a very loud noise but it would wake someone up but the bit that really let me down was you carnt lob it without it breaking you see, it hyas a VERY VERY small and fragile wire which set it off and I droped it onto a hard floor from my wast hight and I picked it up and the wire had snapped! i got one for my freind and the same thing happened all in all not really what I expectid but if they made it louder and tougher I would defernetly buy it!!!!!!!!!!!!
Barney, Stafford - 17th October 2009
visitor avatar Erm can you use this again and again?
Joe, Manchester - 23rd August 2009
Firebox says: Yep!
visitor avatar What is all this fuss about not loud enough!? This is ULTRA LOUD! I loved it and it came at super speed! THANKS FIREBOX! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
