Before writing this we briefly considered trawling the web for some fish-related puns. Fortunately iFish is the greatest desktop companion in fishtory, so we didn't bother ex-salmon-ing any in detail. Besides, fish-based wordplay can be coddamn annoying after a while. Enough already!

i-fish
So what exactly is iFish? Well, just like iDog (iFish's canine counterpart), this chic little critter is a music-loving interactive speaker. Simply play iFish some of your favorite tunes and prepare to be amazed as it comes to life, swishing its segmented tail and flashing its LED 'mood' lights. Thanks to a couple of wheels in its belly, iFish can even spin around and 'swim' on your desk.

Just like the goldfish you tormented as a kid, iFish is sensitive to movement. Tapping its head causes the colorful LEDs within to display various soothing patterns. Thankfully you won't have to flush iFish down the toilet if it starts to flounder; simply shove on some up-tempo tunes and this engaging little chap will rock to the beat and even make a few watery noises.

For mellower moments iFish is preloaded with several calming soundtracks. All you have to do is press his fin and chill to the sound of rippling waves, relaxing bubbles and countless other tranquil aquatic outpourings. Speaking of toilets….

Using iFish as a speaker for your MP3 player is easier than squirting ketchup on your fish fingers. Simply plaice (sorry, we couldn't resist) iFish's 3.5mm audio cable into your player's headphone socket and you're off. Whether it's Shrimp Bizkit or Kylie Minnow (okay, that's it), iFish will amplify your music with surprising clarity. For a fish.

Yes, there are plenty more fish in the sea but there is only a limited supply of iFish in the Firebox aquarium. So hurry up and hit Buy before everyone wants to reel in a multifunctional music-loving fish of their own. Glug!

press review "First there was i-dog, then there was i-pup but that was last year and, frankly, we're tired of canines. So welcome the new friendly iPod accessory: i-fish."

visitor avatar I was stuck on weather or not to spend twenty pounds on a plastic fish that is meant to wag its tail or not. After reading the comments, and realising that they didn't really help I decided to buy it (Very good descision). The I-fish may look a little babyish but all my friends and family think My fish is great! The sound quality is good although at full volume it is a little screechy. The dancing is great and I can sit, watching it for hours. It really moves rather than just sway its head like i-dog (no offence) and the voice detector, stored tunes, flashing LED's and sound effects are a brilliant extra. My i-fish (Mrs. Molly) is now the thing that all my friends are jealous of and sits proudly on my desk! A question for firebox. How come if you plug headphones in then the sound comes out of the i-fish aswell??? The I-fish is a great buy if you like fun things like me but if you want to get very good quality sound then maybe try something else... P. S: If you already own another I-pet like me then you can even plug the two into one ipod! Just link the ipod to the first pet with its cable and use the other cable (which you recieve when you buy the other pet) to plug into the other socket (where the cable branches off) and the other pet into the second you used. There you go. You get lots of wires tangled but it means you get two speakers at once! PPS: try doing this with three?

Firebox says: It's all to do with crazy music wiring. I have tried on headphones which have a spliter. One half going to the input the to output. Bit tricky to explain but have a fiddle, you shall get the idea if your headphones have this feature.

visitor avatar I-Fish is brilliant!! Forget Nabaztag etc, after sitting watching "Bob" (the fish of course) for over an hour wiggling and gyrating across the desk to Britney (sorry) it had me in fits of laughter. My son and I now fight over who gets Bob for the evening. Get one - you won't regret it!!

visitor avatar THIS FISH IS BRILLIANT! Bought it for my girlfriend for her birthday and she's absolutely fallen in love with it. Everyone who comes round can't help but ask about it - it's a great conversation piece and a wonderful distraction from the stresses of the day.
