Boffins have been banging on about about flying cars for yonks. Sadly these are the same slapheads who predicted we'd all be living on Mars, eating three-course pills and wearing jetpack-lined bodysuits by 2001.
Storm Launcher

Get Storm Launcher. Charge Storm Launcher. Fly!

But don't be too disappointed because the eye-poppingly impressive Storm Launcher has just roared into town. This incredible RC vehicle can negotiate any surface you'd care to think of: water, tarmac, sand, grass - you name it. But here's the really impressive thing: the catamaran-style Storm Launcher can actually take off and fly. Yes, fly!

Storm Launcher

Take off from water, land on the ground, take off again and land on water!

Storm Launcher

Propelling!

Just pull back the elevator on the nifty transmitter and this pioneering triumph of aerohydroterradynamics (yes, we made that word up) will take to the air, just like an RC plane. It will even lift off boatplane-styley from water. Okay, you can't actually get in it but you'll have a right laugh controlling the frenzied, stunt-laden action.

Storm Launcher
Needless to say, this twisting, turning, all-terrain terror is guaranteed to befuddle and astound onlookers, so watch out for fallen jaws and popped-out eyeballs as you manoeuvre the rechargeable Storm Launcher around the pond and park at scale speeds of up to 400mph.

Storm Launcher

Handy size!

We took this revolutionary thingamabob to the common and a gobsmacked crowd gathered in seconds. Impressed? Well imagine the look on Sheriff JW Pepper's face when Scaramanga's car took off in The Man with the Golden Gun and times it by ten.

If you're worried about taming such a versatile vehicle, worry not; an ingenious on-board system monitors your ability and prevents you from proceeding to advanced mode until you've mastered the basics. Which is just as well because the Storm Launcher is one of the wildest RC boats/planes/cars we've ever seen. In fact it's the only RC boat/plane/car we've ever seen. So hit Buy and prepare to have your flabber completely gasted!

Visitor Reviews...

visitor avatar Just got this for my birthday and it absolutely ROCKS! Flies so easy and it's very hardy - I had to dive pretty fast nose first into the ground before I managed to break it a bit (kinda snapped one of the pointy bits up front) and then I just pushed it back down and it carried on fine (taped it properly when I got home). It doesn't go very well on grass, so I was mostly hand launching (which is dead easy), flying about and then skimming the ground a bit so my dog could chase it... Run time is about 10 mins stopping and starting so I need to find somewhere that sells more rechargeable batteries for it so I can just change over in the field rather than go home and charge again. Oh, by the way - 2 of the photos used below seem to be stolen from a proper review of this toy (actually a dead good review - worth a read! - http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=560655) - sure hope you didn't reward the little so and so who said they were his shots :).

Firebox says: hmmm...very interesting Matt, nice spot!

visitor avatar This toy is fantastic! The only bad thing is, it doesn't really go on grass that well and is hard to control. Also, you need a lot of repairs. It is fast and a great Xmas present.

visitor avatar We brought our boys one for xmas 2007, the lipo battery and charger lasted to charges. It has been up in the loft since and I have tried everywhere to get a new battery pack without any joy. Has anybody got any ideas where we can get one?
Tina Gosling, Plumstead, London - Jun '09
Firebox says: I'd maybe recommend either looking on eBay or try going directly to the suppliers.

visitor avatar I had one of these bought for me for xmas from firebox. Great fun! The battery does not last too long and I've been searching everywhere to buy some more so I can take 2-3 with me when I go to fly it. Only been able to find a battery with a charger. How about stocking just extra battery packs at Firebox?

visitor avatar This isn't just a radio controlled machine when you fly it. It is an amazing experience whilst flying it because you feel that you have mastered how to fly things and all of your friends think you're amazing when they see you fly but it is so easy it is unbelievable. You can do; backflips, spirals, vertical climbs the list is endless of the stunts you can do. It is well worth the money 5 times over. Thankyou firebox and all of your crew that help find these amazing machines that bring so much joy to people!

Firebox says: our pleasure Daniel

visitor avatar WoW!! got one for crimbo as a surprise present and as a 36 year old stoner was totally wicked, took it to local supermarket car park and thrashed it all over the place, tricky but even managed to get it in the air!! only problem! battery, lasted about 20 minutes! come home to buy another couple and can't find a site anywhere that sells them as separates?? come on firebox, do your stuff!!
Andy, Colchester - Dec '06
Firebox says: Andy-we don't quite understand what you mean. The remote takes 6 standard AA batteries, available anywhere, including from Firebox. The plane uses a rechargeable LiPo battery. So you should be able to just recharge it. If its broken you can purchase replacement rechargable batteries from specialist RC vehicle retailers or hobby shops.

visitor avatar I preordered one of these from america quite a few months back, it arrived 2 weeks ago and in one way I wish id waited to get one from over here as import tax and shipping made it alot more expensive than getting one from here on firebox! However, the performance of this thing is incredible, i design and sell rc models myself and the stability of the stormlauncher in the air is something to be admired, you can roll, loop and touch and go with ease and the epp foam is great at shrugging off crashes. Ive enjoyed this hydrofoam so much ive preordered another from firebox and itll be a great crimbo present for aomeone if I can bare to part with it! All in all, if you want something rc, but different, then this is perfect.
