Make your move

Allow us to elaborate: each player has an assortment of pieces, including Djeds, Pyramids and Obelisks. These pieces either reflect the laser or block it (or both, depending on which side is hit). A turn involves moving a piece one square in any direction or rotating it 90 degrees.

NEW 3D Tower which adds onto the original board

It's Hieroglyphic!
It may sound trickier than unraveling a mummy in the dark, but Khet is actually a snap to pick up and it's seriously addictive to boot. You'll be hooked faster than you can say Nefertiti. Now if you'll excuse us we're off to fry a few more Pharaohs. Ra!

- Staring directly into the beam for prolonged periods may be harmful. When the button is pushed the laser diode will fire. Do not press your button until you have checked that all pieces are secured in the board and not angled up toward a player. For your safety, the game is designed to keep the laser in the field when all pieces are securely fitted into their square. Do not stare directly into the laser beam or at a reflection of the beam. Do not angle the beam towards anyone's eye.

"...let’s cut to the chase - Khet is fantastic...More approachable than chess (and without that feeling that you’re potentially getting yourself into a game that might last weeks!) and less education-dependent than Trivial Pursuit or Scrabble."Slashgear.com - Nov '06

You know, you really ought to sell some way of generating smoke to go with this.... . Would be so much cooler! I dunno, dry ice but cheaper! :).Chris, Chester - Sep '09
I love this game, I just started playing yesterday and already I feel like I've played for hours. I don't have any laser splitters but 'll try to find some, so yea this is a great game.Alex Kinciad, Colorado - Oct '07
One of the best games ever, laser chess! It's like a computer game come to the real world! I can't wait for the tower to come in stock, I've got it on pre-order. I would love to get the eye of Horus beam splitters, but I have only seen them in original Khet colours - silver and gold....Ben, Devon - Nov '07
The term 'laser chess' simply doesn't do this game justice. Khet is far easier to get to grips with than chess and infinitely more accessible. With just a handful of simple rules to master, absolutely anyone can enjoy hours of Pharoah-blasting fun. And with the option to choose your own starting positions, the game has a ridiculous number of possibilities. Khet takes all the best bits of chess, removes the dusty tedium, and adds lasers. It doesn't get any better than this!David Harvey, Birmingham - Jan '09
Ever wondered what 3D Chess would be like in the Star Trek Series? Did you think it would be harder to play than 2D chess? Well I don't know the answer but what I can tell you is that the new Tower Of Kadesh is brilliant to play and can extend your game.
It is fast to set up your tower and the rules make it
easy to understand, so you can start playing within five minutes or ten at the most. You have three set ups that you can use, one of which is new
(Hetepheres 3D), plus the Classic and Imhotep 3D versions. The tower goes into the middle of the board before the game starts and then you take your
move as in a normal Khet game. You can either move your piece (as in a normal game) or move it onto or off the tower. You can move the tower one place in any direction that is not occupied by a piece or turn it a quarter (like the Djed piece) before firing your laser to end your go.
On the top tier, you can not move your Pharaoh into the corner but otherwise you can move it anywhere on the top level or second level. Each set up has some good tactics that can improve your game but if you make a mistake, it can be over a lot quicker. Moving the tower makes it a better game to play as you could find yourself getting out of trouble where you would lose in the 2D set up. Moving pieces on to the tower and then off to make a good killing is a bonus but you have to watch where the laser will go or you can find yourself in trouble. It is also good to see the top board moving all over the bottom board as pieces are picked up and put down on different parts of the playing field. It is also worth mentioning that you will have to keep looking around the bottom board, or turning it to
see behind the column, opposite of where you are playing, but that is the only downside. Once you get used to the 3D board, it is really fun and is harder to work out a strategy. All in all it is great fun and well worth buying.

I bought this for our 9 year old son to play, but it has fallen into the hands of his non-gamer dad and his buddies. It has gone to every party and place inbetween, receiving odd looks and careful questions at first from strangers, but every kid that has seen it wants one. Every Dad who has played a round wants one. We give the quick description of it as Laser Chess and that is all it takes to get them to get really interested.
I direct everyone to firebox. Com for bringing this awesomely addictive game to my attention.
Please continue to bring such great games to the attention of mere mortals.Joan, Michigan - Jan '08
Today, I received this as my birthday present, I thought that I would have a quick game, and I am still playing it and haven't opened any other presents yet. This is a very addictive game, typical firebox.Peter Keig, Douglas, Isle Of Man - Dec '07
I got this for myself, and loved it so much I got it as a present for my brother as well (even before it was rated top board game for Christmas '07 by the Independent). It's a cross between chess, draughts, and Laser Quest (and easier to understand, but harder to master, than that crass description implies). So, um, yeah: BUY IT! (and before you ask, sadly no, I'm not on comission!).Alexander, London - Dec '07
Top game, very addictive and once some people have got their heads round where the laser is going it really does become tense! Just ordered the upgrade pack with laser splitters from the US - surely one for firebox in the future?Ben, London - Feb '07
Firebox says: Thanks for suggestion Ben - we shall keep an eye out!
Brilliant game. . got today and already everyone's fighting over who gets to play the next game. Strategy is a big part of the game (this is where I tend to lose to my cool uncle Daniel!). Works perfectly, and now Daniel is no longer here we've decided to play it over email by using excel as a make-be board! Great game. Thanks firebox!!!Alex (13 Today!), Hertfordshire - Jan '07
Firebox says: Happy Birthday Alex! We're glad you like the game.
