Certain things in life are curiously captivating: campfires, tropical fish tanks, clothes spinning around in a washing machine and, of course, Connie Chung singing. But as far as ambient mood lighting goes we've never seen anything quite as mesmerizing as Mood Beams.
Series 1:
These strangely shapeless thingamabobs are set to take the world of collectable kaleidoscopic critters by storm. Not that suc h a world currently exists, but it will soon because Mood Beams have got cult written all over them!

Basically Mood Beams are a funky tribe of supremely portable, battery-operated characters that cycle through a spectrum of hypnotic colors. They're also sensitive to sound, so if you put them next to your radio or CD player they'll change color to the beat of the music. It's like having a raving light show emanating from within an amorphous Japanese cartoon character. Well, sort of.
Mood Beams can be set to perform at five different speeds: Heartbeat, Rainbow, Strobe, Color Dance and Color Hold - simply set the mode to suit the mood. If you're reading this and wondering what possible reason you could have for inviting a Mood Beam into your life, allow us to explain. Mood Beams are inexplicably comforting, day or night, and they're ideal desktop companions or chill-out lights, especially at bedtime.
Better still, although their cute, cartoon-esque faces are little more than dots and dashes, they're strangely adorable and you'll want to switch yours on every time you walk past it. Not that you'll do that much, because once you see a Mood Beam in action you'll never let it leave your side.
There are four different Mood Beams to collect and each cute companion sports a unique facial expression that will melt your heart the second you lock your eyes on it. In fact, talking of moods, why not put yourself in a fantastic one right now and get to ordering.

How cute are these guys? Purchased Peppy as a present for my daughter, although I'm soooo tempted to keep him for myself!!!
And what a FANTASTIC service from Firebox. I had to pre-order the item as it was out of stock, yet these guys managed to get Peppy packaged and delivered to my door before the 'due back in-stock' date. Thanks Firebox, another happy customer.Firebox says: If you want one, get one of Peppy's friends! Then they can have Glow Parties while you are out, similar to Toy Story!

One word - Addictive! I bought one for a present for someone last year. Then one for myself to have in the office. Another for another friend to have on her desk...AND then the first person I purchased for has bought another 2 for Christmas! Let the Mood Beam Love spread.... Go on, you know you want to!Rachel, Milton Keynes - Dec '08
Ordered three (2 chippers off firebox and a loaf off play). Chippers arrived one day after the confirmation email was sent, and now I don't want to give them away. They're too cute. They're perfect xmas presents for those awkward people who have everything.
they seem gimicky until you see them and then the cute faces just draw you in. And they know how to rave!:D
i feel will be ordering more (for myself) in the future.
can you resist their cute faces and attitude?Firebox says: At Firebox, we can't resist these little munchkins! We love them just as much as you do Hans and lets spread the love of Mood Beams!

WOW - These are amazing! I really like the range of modes especially the beat follower one! 10/10.Westford, Scarborough - Jun '07
I settled on spending my voucher on one of these guys, thinking they were somewhat quirky and it'd give me a few brief minutes of enjoyment. But, actually, now it's here, I love it! Some of the modes may be a little pointless (unless you actually want to give someone an epileptic fit) but Rainbow is just lovely.
My only regret is that you can't order specific ones. I got seriously lucky first time and got one of the two I'd hoped for, but what are the chances of getting the other if I ordered again? About the same as the chance of getting exactly the same one!Richard Nelson, Exeter - May '07
En un mot : FONCEZ !!!!Firebox says: 1st purchase on this site and really I will recommence: ordered objects the 15/11 in England and delivered the 20/11 in France! Concerning the Mood Beams I am delighted: they are really darling! Idea gift ideal for Christmas, some be the age and the sex of the profitable one! In a word: RUSH!!!!

These are really cool items, I purchased a set of 4 for my missus and they arrived the next day, although after testing them I thought they were so good she may now only get 3. I'll just have to hide mine until Christmas. Good price, nice packaging and good lighting effects!! Proper job!!Jezzah, Cornwall - Nov '08
My boyfriend got me Smiley and Lovestruck for Christmas, and I'm in love with both! They give such a comforting glow in the dark - perfect in Rainbow mode to ease you off to sleep. I love how they switch off after a while on their own - no need to worry about wearing the batteries out (which are very conveniently included and fitted so you can enjoy them from the moment they're unwrapped!) My boyfriend said he wished he'd kept one for himself, so I know what to surprise him with next time ;) I can see myself building a collection too. I think these are excellent value for money, and very easy to use. Cute, glowy, quirky, inexpensive and simple - Ingenious!Laura, Liverpool - Dec '07
Bought Dizzy late afternoon at 4pm and he arrived at 12am today! Great lights packed inside and I love the way the colours operate. Thanks and will probably get another one :) thanks!Kevin Taylor, Exmouth - Oct '07
