Chocolate Ants
This idea's got legs!
Trust us, they are very moreish!
No siree, these six-legged sweets are made from genuine Queen Leafcutter ants (like the ones you see on nature programs carrying flipping great bits of foliage). None of which makes much difference when you're chomping on a big deceased one that's been slopped in chocolate, but we thought you might be interested. Ah yes, and what about that chocolate? Well, the good people at Edible have chosen the finest Belgian chocolate in which to dip their creepy crawlies, making the overall taste sensation a gloriously bittersweet affair in every sense.
Each pack has a minimum of 4 ants
Queen Leafcutters are considered a delicacy by South American Indians, so we suggest you serve them as an unusual and (t)antalising post dinner party treat - without telling guests what they are until they've chomped a few! Not that we could possibly condone such deception, but telling the truth could cause potential eaters to throw them at your feet in disgust. And you know what they say: there's nothing worse than being caught with your ants round your ankles!

This is a film of my brother chomping on a chococlate covered ant,
"Hmm, tasty, but a bit crunchy..." he says, spraying slivers of chewed up ant

What's the use-by date on these?Amber, London - 26th October 2011
Firebox says: Hi Amber, the use-by date on our latest stock is December 2013. By my calculations, that's about 300 years in ant-years!
Steph, Milton Keynes.... If you actually looked at the picture it clearly shows five chocolate covered ants.Bond, Suffolk - 20th October 2011
Ants for pudding ooooooooooo yummy it kind of gives me the creeps though nasty.DR.boby306, - 19th February 2011
They tasted so good I bought like ten packs.Gabriel Hawkins, - 31st January 2011
After a slight mishap with the posting they arrived to. Although I knew the box would be small and only a min of four chocolate ants I was a little disappointed when I held the box in my hand, it is a present and with only five ants in the box when the picture shows more was again a little disappointing.
That said the present itself was not a stand alone more of a novelty for a friend who loves chocolate and quirky things so its two birds one stone. He hasn't tried them yet but assures me he will. Thanks Firebox for another bizarre gift and more then helpful customer service when my order went wandering. Thank you.Bex, Birmingham - 21st December 2010
Very small Pot, seems silly to pay £6 for ants, which I could of got from my own garden and covered in a melted twix ( or something of that nature ) however, they are pretty cool, Maybe as a present to a cousin etc.Danny, Notts - 16th December 2010
I ordered 2 of these for Xmas presents and I would be embarrassed to give them - there are 5 tiny ants in each box! and the packaging is tiny, plastic and very cheap looking. I know the description gives min number of ants and packaging size, but I feel completely ripped off!Jacquie, Preston - 27th November 2010
Firebox says: Sorry to hear that Jacquie - we like all our customers to be happy with their purchases and offer a 30day return policy so please contact us via info@firebox.com if you would like to return them
The picture is really misleading, I only got 5 chocolate ants in the pot, but the picture shows a LOT more than that. Not happy :(.Steph, Milton Keynes - 6th November 2010
These ants definitely has to be one of the weirdest things I have ever eaten. The chocolate is delicious but the ant, ugh, is tastes like popcorn! Very crunchy though...
Worth a try, though I won't be eating them anytime soon. :)Qian Hui, Surrey - 21st March 2010
Do these contain nuts? Or traces of, I want to get them as a secret santa gift, but he's alergic to nuts....Krystell, Glasgow - 4th December 2009
Firebox says: Most chocolate may contain traces of nuts so we'd advise against it, sorry!
