Korg Kaossilator being played

Intuative X/Y touch interface

Much as we love strumming, plucking, tinkling and drumming, we’ve never played an instrument as ludicrously addictive as the incredible Korg Kaossilator. This multi-instrumental portable synth lets everyone, from pro muso to talentless wannabe, create unbelievable music on the move by simply tapping or sliding a finger across its touch pad. Sticks, picks and blisters? No thanks!

Korg Kaossilator
Whether you’re a seasoned musician or a bumbling boyband reject, the battery-operated Kaossilator will blow you away with its amazing samples. Even if you’ve never touched an instrument you’ll soon be recording, looping and stacking, and creating musical works as simple or as complex as you fancy!

With just a few taps you can access and tweak 100 synth or percussive sounds (guitar, bass, snare, crazy sound effects, etc), manipulate various drum sounds, play in any one of 31 scales in any key, and utilise 50 types of gate arpeggiation to perform complex rhythmic patterns.

Korg Kaossilator on the bus

Imagine a ‘Wheels on the Bus’ techno remix to accompany this picture

Yes, we realise we’re making this sound more challenging than building a cathedral out of runny custard but it’s not. In fact it’s virtually impossible to make this thing sound bad. Just imagine that DJ function you’ve got on your mobile phone, throw in an intuitive touch screen and times it by a kajillion. You'll almost feel guilty belting out such toe-tapping stuff this effortlessly. It’s truly unputdownable. And thanks to a headphone socket you can get your groove on anywhere. You might even create a future smash on the 8.15 to Euston.

Despite its user-friendly interface, the Kaossilator is perfectly capable of holding its own in any pro scenario and can be used as a sample source (anyone for the Space Invaders stomp?) or even a live rig. Simply hook it up using the RCA outputs and blast out the jam. Or something like that.

The Kaossilator is currently creating a right buzz in the music bizz. And that’s no surprise, because in a world of Doherty’s, Dannii’s and superstar DJs, making music with virtually no effort (or discernable talent) is definitely the way forward. If you can’t beat ‘em…
